Chicken Dumplings/ Momos

Hi Friends ...
Momos are famous Chinese fast food which is now a days famous in India too....They can be served in different varieties like steamed and fried momos.

I made chicken momos with minced chicken, If you are vegetarian you can try it with cabbage and grated veggies of your own choice....

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (Maida)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Water for kneading
For Filling

  • 1 cup boneless chicken
  • 1 large onion
  • Few fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt acc.to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste or minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp soya sauce
  • A pinch of ajinomoto (Optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil

Method:

  • In a chopper or grinder put all the ingredients of the filling, Churn for just 3-4 secs (Don't mince it too much).

  • Remove it in a bowl and keep aside.
  • Knead the maida and salt together into firm dough. Cover and keep aside for 1 hour.

  • Divide dough into  small portions. Shape them into balls and roll out very thin 4-5 inch round chapatis.
  • Put a teaspoon of the filling in the middle.

  • Bring the edges together to the centre and twist to seal it, be ensure that the momo is sealed nicely. (Don't bother about shape of the momo)

  • Steam in a steamer or you can place them on Idly Stand too for  20 minutes. Place the steamer or Idly stand in the pressure cooker with 1/2 glass of water in it.

  • Serve hot with chilly sauce.
