Shepherd's Salad (Choban Salad)

Hi Friends,
Shepherd's Salad or Choban Salad is famous salad from Turkey.....Its a summer salad totally refreshing and light.
Main ingredients of the dressing are olive oil, lemon juice or vinegar.....It is originally main dish of shepherds that's why the name Shepherd's Salad is given to it ...
Its easily made up by the veggies available in the market, So enjoy the colourful and light salad this summer ...



Ingredients:

  • 2  tomatoes (De-seed and chopped)
  • 1 English cucumber (Chopped with peel)
  • 1 green bell pepper (De-seed and chopped)  
  • 1 big onion (Sliced) 
  • 3-4 tbsp of chopped  parsley
  • 1/2 cup Feta cheese (Chopped) Optional
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • Garnish: Chopped parsley


Method:


  • Mix all the chopped vegetables and feta cheese in a bowl. 
  • Add chopped  parsley and toss well. Keep the salad in the fridge. 
  • Before serving squeeze the lemon, add olive oil, pepper powder and salt . Whisk nicely.


  • Pour on the salad. Toss gently. 
  • Garnish with parsley and serve chilled.
