Chicken 65

Hi Friends ,
Chicken 65 is spicy, deep fried chicken recipe originated from Chennai. In Bangalore you will get this appetizer in all the restaurants. Its very famous here .....
I learnt this recipe from my co-blogger Jay from tastyappetite.in.  She has a lovely cooking blog..
I tried this recipe with a little variation and it came out perfectly so wanted to share with you all :-)

Ingredients:

  •  700 gm Chicken ( I used chicken with bones you can use boneless too)
  •  2 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp food colour (red)*
  • Salt acc.to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Wash and pat dry chicken pieces and keep them aside.
  2. Mix red chilly powder, pepper powder, salt, vinegar, lemon juice and kabab powder or red colour, marinate the chicken pieces for 1 hour.
  3. Mix corn flour, egg, wheat flour to thick paste.
  4. Dip the marinated chicken pieces in the paste.
  5. Heat oil in a kadhai and deep fry the chicken pieces on medium flame to golden brown.
  6. Remove on an absorbent paper.
  7. Heat 2 tbsp oil , add ginger garlic paste and curry leaves, saute till it ginger- garlic paste turns brown.
  8. Add yogurt and mix well.
  9. Add salt.
  10. Cook till mixture gets thick.
  11. Add fried chicken pieces, cook in low flame till masala is nicely coated on the chicken pieces.
  12. Remove from fire.
  13. Serve hot.
Note: I mixed kabab powder in the marination (it has colour in it), so I skipped putting extra colour. If you don't have kabab powder then add colour while marinating the chicken.
